OMD3 Day 28: Princess

I've done a few of the Disney princesses and I've done Princess Peach earlier in the month. I decided to stick with that theme and did another Nintendo Princess, Princess Rosalina. She's the celestial/galaxy princess. Just like Princess Peach, I based the manicure off of the bottom of her dress. My thumb looks like a galaxy with a dark blue holo.

OMD3 Day 27: Wings

I am OBSESSED with these nails, as you can probably tell by the number of pictures I'm posting. I was initially going to do a butterfly nail accent, but then I saw my favourite scarf and realized I had to do that. I've tried to paint butterflies before, but this is by far my favourite one I've done. I don't want to take them off, but I'm so far behind on this challenge that I've only got a couple more days and a lot more prompts to do.

OMD3 Day 26: Peace

I wanted to make 'peace' look as hippie as possible, so I wanted to do something that looked tie-dye. I also decided to use tape to make a peace sign in negative space. I'm not sure how I like the peace sign in comparison to the tie-dye because it gets sort of lost. It may have worked better with thicker tape, though.

OMD3 Day 23: Under the Sea

What's better for under the sea than the little mermaid herself! The purple shell top doesn't quite picture the correct way since it shows up more brown. The polish used for her tail was a polish that I got from What's In-die Box when they did a Disney Princess themed one. It's Ariel by Glam Polish.

OMD3 Day 22: Star Sign

Since I was born in late May, my star sign is Gemini. I decided to do a bit of glitter placement. I don't have any loose glitter, so I was attempting to take the bigger glitter pieces from a glitter polish. I used that for the main stars and then I used a silver holo for the connecting lines and as random bits of stars on the other nails.

OMD3 Day 21: Travel

I struggled with a design for these nails for a while. Then I googled travel and found some inspiration from pictures of a map with famous attractions coming on top. I decided to use Australia with the Sydney Opera House, France with the Eiffel Tower, Italy with the Tower of Pisa, and Michigan (where I'm from) with cherries. Unfortunately the colour of the water and the colour of the countries are too dark to show up well in the pictures.

OMD3 Day 20: Jewels

I got a polish called Bejeweled a little over a month ago. I used to be OBSESSED with the game Bejeweled, so I knew that I needed to get it. I also loved the colour and wanted incorporate it into the Jewels theme. Then I thought about doing a necklace-looking French tip. The super sparkly glitter of the gem crush and holo polishes didn't show up too well in the pictures, though.

OMD3 Day 14: Fish

While this may not look like fish, it's inspired by a fishing video game. I am obsessed with Streetpass Fishing, aka Ultimate Angler, on the Nintendo 3DS. This was inspired by one of their fishing spots. 

The game also has periods of "feeding frenzies" which means that a bunch of fish are about to jump up and you need to catch them. You know one is about to happen because the water starts sparkling, hence the spots of holo polish on the water. I think that this is my favourite landscape that I've done!

In my book club, we read an Agatha Christie novel, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Since then I've read Murder on the Orient Express and a few short stories. Since those are all Poirot books, I decided to go with his iconic mustache. The background polish is also called Gray Matter, which I though appropriate because he always talks about his little gray cells.

OMD3 Day 12: Watermelon

I've done watermelon in the past, but I've decided to do it a bit differently. Although I still used my melon scented polish!

I wanted to make the other nails look like the outside of a watermelon. I started by painting them the lighter green. I then tried to sponge some dark green in lines. It didn't quite work, so I tried something else. I used a small dotting tool to create thickish squiggly lines of alternating green. I wasn't sure how it'd turn out, but a top coat evened it out. I loved the effect since it has the imperfections of a watermelon's stripes but is still flat.

My sisters-in-law came to visit at the end of June. I love when they visit because we have so much fun and I have more canvasses to do nails! It's really helpful to have more nails when I'm prepping for a 31 day challenge!

OMD3 Day 10: Floral

I wanted to do a purple flower in the corner of my nails, so I took to the internet for some purple flower inspiration. I wasn't sure how these were going to turn out when I had just painted the petals, but I absolutely loved them when I got around to painting the middle bit. The petals are from two different colours and then a third with them mixed. The middle bit of the flower is a gray and a darker purple.

I loved how these turned out! The lighting made the picture's colours a little off, though. I used a very pale light purple. I then used tape on the accent nail and sponged random dots of pastel blue, green, and pink on top.

OMD3 Day 7: Glittery

I loved these ones. I was going through my nail polishes looking for inspiration for this month when I started testing it on my thumb nail. Then I loved it and needed to do it to the rest of my nails! I did a sort of gradient with Nail Junkie from Sinful Colors. I did a layer of it, followed by another layer that didn't go all the way to the bottom, then more layers the same way. I did this technique before on a friend's nails using a sheer tint from OPI.

I did this manicure when I still had to wear a bandage. I cut my finger almost a week before on the light on our rangehood. It bled quite a bit and now I have a scar! I absolutely loved this manicure and I'll need to do it again sometime when I can do all ten fingers!

OMD3 Day 5: Colourful

I was initially going to use a rainbow glitter as an accent nail, but then I was sick of seeing rainbows lately. (Thank you, facebook!) I decided to use Color Storm from Picture Polish instead. It's a new one for me and I love it!

I started with a base of Desire from Formula X. Then I wasn't sure if I wanted just one accent nail or French tips. I decided a combination would be great. I loved how it turned out!
