OMD3 Day 7: Glittery

I loved these ones. I was going through my nail polishes looking for inspiration for this month when I started testing it on my thumb nail. Then I loved it and needed to do it to the rest of my nails! I did a sort of gradient with Nail Junkie from Sinful Colors. I did a layer of it, followed by another layer that didn't go all the way to the bottom, then more layers the same way. I did this technique before on a friend's nails using a sheer tint from OPI.

I did this manicure when I still had to wear a bandage. I cut my finger almost a week before on the light on our rangehood. It bled quite a bit and now I have a scar! I absolutely loved this manicure and I'll need to do it again sometime when I can do all ten fingers!

OMD3 Day 6: Polka Dot

I thought that dominoes would be a fun stray away from the colourful polka dots usually done for this theme.

OMD3 Day 5: Colourful

I was initially going to use a rainbow glitter as an accent nail, but then I was sick of seeing rainbows lately. (Thank you, facebook!) I decided to use Color Storm from Picture Polish instead. It's a new one for me and I love it!

I started with a base of Desire from Formula X. Then I wasn't sure if I wanted just one accent nail or French tips. I decided a combination would be great. I loved how it turned out!

OMD3 Day 4: Gold and Black

These were fun because it was my first time using a thin long striper brush and felt like I actually had success. I was planning this pattern and I was so happy that I actually could do them without altering my design!

OMD3 Day 3: Silver

I really wanted to try one of my new polishes, Metallic 4 Life by OPI, for silver. It is only a touch of silver with glitter, so I decided to do it on my accent nail. The other nails are Push and Shove from OPI. Sadly the silver glitter in Metallic 4 Life didn't photograph as well as I would have hoped.

OMD3 Day 2: Peach

Once again, I'm falling behind on a 31 day challenge. But that's because my sisters-in-law were here for a week and then my husband's best friend and his wife came for the weekend. At least I have two hands so I can do two prompts at once!

Today's theme was peach. I knew right away that I wanted to do Princess Peach from the Mario games. I decided to do a modified French manicure to represent the bottom of her dress.

OMD3 Day 1: Teal

Every July, a few bloggers put together a 31 day challenge for nail art. Each day in July has a different prompt. Today's prompt is teal.

I decided to do a gradient with My Dogsled is a Hybrid and Amazon... Amazoff, both from OPI.

Ladybugs

I finally got to posting on the same day that I did my nails. Being unemployed helps even if I do still feel sick. (My job was a fixed term contract.)

This past Saturday, my friend had a 30th birthday party that was Super Hero themed. I went as Agent Carter. She has bright red nails all the time, so that's what I did to my nails. One of my other friends commented that it was the most normal she had seen my nails. She said normal, I say boring.

When walking to church the next morning, I walked past a place called the Sewing Bug. It has a ladybug on its logo and I realised that was the perfect way to jazz up my nails. It just took me a few days to actually do it. I was debating between dots on the non-accent nails or a French tip. I had waited too long to decide, so I needed to do the tip to cover up the wear!

It's my birthday and I'll do my nails if I want to

My birthday was two weeks ago. My husband and I celebrated a bit when we were up in the Gold Coast with his parents. We got a pretty painting and a beautiful necklace as part of my birthday present. Seeing the dingo puppies at Dreamworld was also a birthday present. Then this past weekend we got the last part of my gift, which was a big sundae from Gelatissimo. It had 32 mini scoops of gelato and it was amazing!

I also got three cakes from my husband. The ice cream cake was for our Eurovision party the weekend before my birthday. There was a chocolate cake with mint icing for my actual birthday that I brought to singing practice. Then he made a Ferarro Rocher cake for our Bible study on Wednesday. I was very spoiled!

I forgot to get a picture of the big ice cream cake, but we had extra ice cream so we made little cakes as well. I also didn't take a picture of the chocolate cake with mint icing. Oops!

These are my nails from my birthday. I started by painting them purple. Then I used a sponge to add in the blue and green, in addition to adding more purple. I loved how they turned out, but it was a bit difficult to capture the subtlety in a picture.

I'm back... well kind of...

I've been on a hiatus from my blog because my computer sort of died. It needed to be plugged in to an Ethernet cable to connect to the internet and it was slower than molasses on a cold winter's day. I also can't easily update my blog from my phone. Rather than being super frustrated every time I went on, I decided to wait until I got a new computer. I got a chromebook a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it! It's super fast and light weight. Perfect for me.

But that's not the only reason that I was gone from my blog. I just haven't been doing my nails all that often recently. It's been sad. The reason is that I've been sick. A lot. I'm having some issues with my blood work, so I need to see a rheumatologist in July and I've had three colds just in the past month or so and currently have a flu, despite getting a flu shot! (I must have some sort of horrible skill of catching a strand not covered by the vaccine!) I don't really remember what it's like to be able to breathe normally!

That being said, let's get caught up with the nails that I have done over the past two months!

I painted these raspberry nails in honour of a great woman. She was my family's neighbour before I was born. But since she lived in the same city as my extended family, we would see her and her husband almost as much as my family. He passed away a couple of years ago and then she passed away very unexpectedly last month. They were like a third set of grandparents to me. It was hard to be so far away from my family in America at a time like that.

The raspberries were because they grew raspberries in their backyard and would always have a bowl of their raspberries that they froze and heated up whenever we went to visit. The polish that I used even smelled like raspberries.

My Disney nails were fun for me to do. I had friends from my a Capella group come over after we had a performance at an aged care facility and we watched/sang a long with Disney movies.

Then the most tragic thing of all happened a couple of days later. I was adjusting my purse strap as I got on the bus and my nail tore apart and the tip went flying. It was quite painful and traumatic. I ended up cutting the rest of my nails as well. Since I've started working part time and been getting sick, I haven't had much time to properly care for them. My nails are still recovering. I miss the beautiful length!

The next ones were fun. My husband is a huge fan of Marvel and was checking when you could get tickets to the new Avengers movie a few months in advance. Since he's so crazy, we were able to ensure we got tickets in time to see opening night. It gave me the perfect excuse to do something creative and crazy with my nails again. I was inspired by this manicure from pinterest.

Then I didn't have anything else of interest until a basic mani and accent nail that I did last week while on holiday with my husband and in-laws up in the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. It was a great holiday. My birthday is next week, so we celebrated a bit. Part of my present was to do an experience at DreamWorld where my husband and I got to play with dingo puppies. They were adorable and so sweet!

So I'm back as long as I'm well enough to keep doing my nails. At least I have a computer that works now! Even if my immune system doesn't...
